How to Use the Daily Pulse

Written by Sarah

The Daily Pulse shows you where your letters are right now, how many have arrived, and how many have been completed, without leaving the Letters page.

Opening the Daily Pulse

Select Daily Pulse in the top navigation bar. A summary panel opens with three figures for today: Input letters, Letters in progress, and Completed letters.

Select View full breakdown to see the detail behind those figures.

Numbers open the letters behind it

Select any underlined figure in the Daily Pulse to open the Letters list filtered to exactly those letters. This allows you to go straight from a count to the letters it represents.

Letters in progress

Letters in progress is a live count of every letter currently moving through BetterLetter. It is not tied to a date, so it changes as your team works.

The total splits into two groups:

  • Needs action from your team is the work waiting on you. It breaks down into Patient matching, Review, and Rejection.

  • No action needed is everything moving forward without you. Select it to expand the breakdown to show a further breakdown of what’s happening. If you’re using the BetterLetter team to supplement your work, you will see the amount of letters they’ve taken on here as well.

Every row has a bar, and all the bars use the same scale. You can compare any row with any other to see where the bulk of your letters are sitting. A row counting 0 shows no bar.

Input and completed letters

Input letters counts the letters that arrived. Completed letters counts the letters that finished, split into Released and Rejected.

Both figures cover the period you choose at the top of the box:

  • Day shows today

  • Week shows the last 7 days

  • Month shows the last 30 days

Input letters also breaks down how each letter reached us.

Reading the two boxes together

The period buttons change the left box only. Letters in progress is always a snapshot of this moment, so a quiet day can still show a large number in progress if letters are queued from earlier in the week.
