This article will go through the buttons, tabs, and indicators that you will encounter on BetterLetter. Refer back to this article for a refresh in case you forget!

  1. Back button: Click on the arrow symbol to go back to the list of letters in BetterLetter.

  2. Annotations tab: This is where you will find the coding tables and workflow items.

  3. Patient history tab: This is where you will find any patient history, which contains the codes from the problems list that we are able to view from a patient’s EHR, for the letter you are working on.

  4. Annotation indicators: These show the number of AI annotations that require acceptance as well as errors and warnings that must be addressed. You can click on an indicator to cycle through issues of that type.

  5. Quick Code bar: Allows you to quickly add codes, medications, or tasks. Learn more here

  6. Templates: Allows you to apply a letter level layer of AI coding based on letter type/department, or on general coding preferences. A template will always be chosen, and one will automatically be assigned to your letter (but you can choose a different one from the drop down if you want to). Learn more here.

  7. Notes button: This is where you can leave notes on the letter or view notes that have already been left by someone else. If any notes are present on a letter, you will see them as soon as you open the letter. Notes that are made using this button do not appear on the EHR.

  8. View-only letter: Click on this symbol to hide the tables/annotations and only view the letter in a larger format. You will still be able to annotate via the annotation pop-up when on this view.

  9. Flashlight button: You will be able to toggle this if there are any acknowledged errors present on the letter. They will be made visible when the flashlight is toggled. Learn more about errors here

  10. Trashcan button: This allows you to reject a letter.

  11. Flag button: This button flags the letter. The flag can be filtered for in BetterLetter, and will also cause a priority flag to be set on Docman’s Review tasks. Learn more about flagging a letter here.

  12. Assigned to: This dropdown will allow you to assign the letter to someone else in your practice if there are multiple accounts for your practice.

  13. X issues button: BetterLetter has detected that there are issues preventing your letter from being released to the EHR. This button will override the “Submit letter” button until all of the issues have been resolved.

  14. Submit letter button: Press this when you are done coding the letter and are ready for it to be submitted to your practice’s EHR.
